Tommy Mannausa, who is planning to build a condo tower in downtown Sarasota as soon as the economy is in the clear, has completed the third phase of his Main Street acquisition plan.

An actor, song-writer and commercial developer
, Mannausa paid $870,000 for the empty lot at the intersection of Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue in late 2010 and then shelled out $1.446 million more for the Living Walls furniture store at 1311 Main Street in May.

Then earlier this month Mannausa’s company, Mannausa Gulfstream Development, paid $912,000 for the Sports Page bar and restaurant at 1319 Main Street

The building previously belonged to Bar Owners Inc., a Sarasota company managed by Robert L. Richards and Kenneth H. Barr, which paid $650,000 in November 1998

Mannausa said that both Living Walls and the Sports Page will remain open until he is ready to build “The Jewel” — an 18-story luxury condo tower with 360-degree views of the city and bayfront.
